PhD project available
| I have an open PhD position to fill within the RTG nanomaterials@biomembranes on GFETs for electronic probing of membrane-protein interactions and dynamics. If you like interdisciplinary work and want to investigate molecular interactions of bio-molecules with Graphene and CNTs including setting up transport measurements in aqueous solution, find the official opening here.

Research
We study electronic transport through carbon nanotubes functionalized with molecules. Our focus is on molecular interactions with the goal to unravel spin as well as molecular dynamics of magnetic and biomolecules. Research includes:
- Device fabrication: Synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs); Lithography of electronic devices; (Bio)functionalization from inside (peapods) and outside
- Microscopy and Spectroscopy: Characterization of functionalized CNTs and devices with abberation corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and tip-enhanced Raman scattering (TERS)
- Electronic Transport: Molecular interactions in quantum transport; Noise measurements; Magnetoresistance
Bachelor's and Master's projects
We have always interesting topics in emerging fields of experimental physics for Bachelor's and Master's theses available. One specific subject available at the moment is Graphene Field-Effect transistors for Biosensing. If you are looking for other projects or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. C. Meyer for more information.
